Straight talk

What “cheap” should mean

Cheap website design has a bad reputation, and mostly it has earned it. Here is the difference between a low price and a bad deal.

A good cheap website

  • You own the domain, the code and the content
  • A real one-off price, not an intro rate that jumps
  • Hosting that does not quietly cost £20 a month forever
  • The site loads fast on a phone, where your customers are
  • You can leave whenever you want and keep everything

A bad cheap website

  • The domain is registered in the designer’s name
  • A stock template with your logo dropped on top
  • A monthly fee that never ends and buys nothing
  • No mobile design, because most clients check on a desktop
  • No way to edit anything without paying per change

Our prices are low for one honest reason: AI has removed most of the production time from building a small website. Laying out a page, writing responsive breakpoints, wiring a contact form — work that used to take a freelancer two days now takes an hour. We pass that saving on instead of charging agency rates for work that no longer takes agency effort.

Prices

Two low-cost packages

Both are one-off prices. Nothing renews, nothing auto-charges, and nothing is held hostage if you decide to leave.

Running costs

Why there is no monthly hosting bill

The most common way a cheap website stops being cheap is the ongoing cost. This is what our sites actually cost to run.

Hosting

£0

Static sites on Cloudflare’s free tier. No server to rent, no bandwidth bill that grows with your traffic.

SSL certificate

£0

Included free with Cloudflare. Some hosts still charge £50–£100 a year for this.

Domain

~£12/yr

A .co.uk domain, registered in your name. The only unavoidable cost.

Common questions

Cheap website design, answered honestly

Is a cheap website going to look cheap?

It will if the person building it uses a template and changes the logo. Ours do not, because the design work is not where the cost sits any more — it is the production time, and that is what AI has cut. A £100 page from us is a properly designed page, just a single one. The limit is how much you can fit on one page, not the quality of what is on it.

What is the catch with cheap website design?

There are three real ones, and you should check for all of them with any cheap quote. First, the cheap price is often an introductory price that jumps on renewal. Second, you may not own your domain — leaving means starting again. Third, ongoing costs are hidden in hosting and plugin fees. None of those apply here: our price is one-off, your domain is registered in your name, and Cloudflare hosting is free at this scale.

What do I get for £100?

One responsive page designed around your business, a contact form that emails you directly, your phone number, email, opening hours and a Google Map, core SEO and hosting on Cloudflare. It is a complete website for a business whose customers need to find it and get in touch — a plumber, a hairdresser, a personal trainer, a consultant.

When should I spend more than £100?

When you sell more than one distinct thing. If a customer might search for "emergency callout" and "boiler installation" separately, you want a page for each, because one page cannot rank for everything. That is what the £300 five-page package is for. Beyond that you are buying either a shop or a custom application, and we will tell you honestly if that is what you need.

How cheap is too cheap?

If a quote is under about £80 for a custom website, something is being cut — usually your ownership of the domain, or the design is a stock template you could have bought yourself for £40. There is also a growing market in AI-generated sites sold as custom work with no editing, no accessibility checks and no SEO. Cheap is fine. Cheap and unusable is not.

Do you offer payment plans?

We take 50% to start and 50% on launch, which splits a £300 project into two payments of £150. For larger projects we can split further — ask when you get in touch.

A complete one-page website is £100.

If you need more than one page, the £300 package covers five. Tell us what your business does and we will tell you which one you actually need — including when the answer is the cheaper one.
